HKUST annual report 2022-2023 HIGHLIGHTS of the Year Leadership Changes Bring Installation of First Woman President Prof. Nancy Y. IP (second right) was installed as HKUST’s fifth President on November 26, 2022, becoming the first woman to head a University Grants Committee-supported institution. Other major leadership changes included the appointment of Prof. Harry SHUM Heung-Yeung (second left) as HKUST(GZ) Celebrates Opening HKUST(GZ) held a memorable opening ceremony on September 1, 2022, marking a milestone in the University’s 30-year history and ushering in HKUST 2.0 at both campuses. Under the “Unified HKUST, Complementary Campuses” framework, the two campuses are working synergistically together through close collaboration on academic programs, research, and facilities to nurture future-ready innovative talents. University Anthem Fosters Togetherness HKUST premiered the university anthem on March 31, 2023. Jointly originated by the University community and supporters, the anthem embodies the spirit and core values of HKUST, fostering a strong sense of belonging. Council Chairman, succeeding Dr. Andrew LIAO Cheung-sing (first right) in March 2023. Meanwhile, Dr. Liao was appointed Chairman of the HKUST Court, replacing Dr. John CHAN Cho-Chak (first left), who has become Pro-Chancellor.
