HKUST annual report 2022-2023 HIGHLIGHTS of the Year Joint Government and Academia Endeavor to Develop Smog Control Strategies Research teams from HKUST, CUHK, CityU and PolyU collaborated with the HKSAR Environmental Protection Department to develop science- based regional ozone and photochemical smog control strategies. This collaboration combines multidisciplinary expertise with leading technology to improve the quantitative understanding of different emission sources and formulate effective strategies. Sustainability Commitment ESG Investment Policy Boost for Net-Zero Carbon Goal HKUST became the first university in Hong Kong to pledge the elimination of investments in fossil fuels in its updated environmental, social, and governance (ESG) policy, announced in December 2022. This initiative manifests HKUST’s commitment to be a sustainability leader across the region and beyond. Shaw Auditorium Honored for Sustainable Design The eco-friendly Shaw Auditorium was recognized with prestigious accolades, including a merit in the Quality Building Award and the highest level of Hong Kong’s green building certification system with a platinum rating in HK BEAM Plus. Home to various cultural activities and community events, the state- of-the-art venue is conducive to a holistic education experience that nurtures students’ creativity.
