Selected start-ups, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as DeepTech companies founded by HKUST members will receive entrepreneurship training, potential investment opportunities, business matching services and R&D collaboration opportunities with HKUST academics. The Club aims not only to channel resources to HKUST companies, but also to lead the way in developing Hong Kong's entrepreneurial culture. Boosting Start-Ups with Intellectual Property As a testament to our strength in generating original research that spurs practical innovations, the University achieved record-breaking intellectual property and licensing outcomes over 2022-23. Ranking No.1 in China and No.33 globally under the patent influence metric of the Nature Index (2022), HKUST is making a growing economic and societal impact through its licensed technologies. To further support our members’ entrepreneurial journeys, we have been implementing the HKUST IP Policy 3.0 since March 2023. Measures include an increase in commercialization revenues to creators from 10%-50% to 70%, enhancing affiliated start-ups’ competitiveness and fortifying their financial stability. In December 2022, we launched the Technology Adoption Program to make our IP technology portfolio more accessible to a wider range of businesses and organizations (start-ups, NGOs, SMEs, multinationals)
