The following list is not exhaustive. and Recognitions Faculty • Prof. Charles NGWang-Wai , Chair Professor, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, was awarded the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress. • Prof. Wei SHYY , Professor Emeritus, Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, was honored with the Satya N. Atluri Award by the International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences. • Prof. WANG Shuai , Department of Computer Science and Engineering, was recognized with a Google Research Scholar Award. • Prof. ZHANG Limin , Chair Professor, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, received the Ralph B. Peck Award 2023. • Prof. QUHuamin , Dean of theAcademy of Interdisciplinary Studies, was named a 2023 AI 2000 Most Influential Scholar in Visualization. • IAS Sin Wai Kin Professor of Chinese Culture Prof. YAN Lianke , Chair Professor, Division of Humanities, was awarded the 6th Lee Hochul Literary Prize for Peace. • Prof. Berthold JÄCK , Department of Physics, received a 2022 Croucher Tak Wah Mak Innovation Award. • Prof. Hugh NAKAMURA , Department of Chemistry, was selected by the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development and the New York Academy of Sciences to become an Interstellar Initiative Early Career Investigator. • Prof. BAO Zhigang , Department of Mathematics, and Prof. HE Ding , Department of Ocean Science, were recognized under the 2022 Excellent Young Scientists Scheme (Hong Kong and Macao), organized by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. • New Bright Professor of Engineering Prof. Khaled B. LETAIEF , Chair Professor, Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering, received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. He was also the first in Hong Kong to receive the Edwin Howard Armstrong Achievement Award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Communications Society. Fellows and Board Memberships • Prof. SU Hui , Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, was named a 2023 Global Fellow of Ewha Womans University. • Prof. GUO Yike , Chair Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Prof. CHEUNG Shing-Chi , Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and Prof. SHI Ling , Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering, were elected Fellows of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. • Prof. Melody CHAO , Department of Management, was named a Fellow of the Society for Personality and Social Psychology. • Prof. HUNG Mingyi , Chair Professor, Department of Accounting, was appointed a Senior Fellow of the Asian Bureau of Finance and Economic Research. • Dr. Timothy Markham PAGE , Division of Humanities, was awarded a 2023 Guggenheim Fellowship. • IAS Si Yuan Prof. Gunther UHLMANN , Chair Professor, Department of Mathematics, and IAS Senior Member Prof. TYE Bik-Kwoon were elected members of the US National Academy of Sciences. • Prof. Jensen LI Tsan-Hang , Department of Physics, was awarded a 2022 Croucher Senior Research Fellowship. • Prof. LING Shiqing , Chair Professor, Department of Mathematics, was named a Senior Research Fellow 2022/23 by the Research Grants Council. • Prof. FAN Zhiyong , Departments of Electronic and Computer Engineering, and Chemical and Biological Engineering, was elected a 2023 Optica Fellow. • Prof. Stephane REDONNET , Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
