16 Learning for Life In postgraduate recruitment, HKUST connected with over 4,500 prospective students from nearly 120 countries and regions via different admission events. The University sponsored 20 overseas trips for faculty members and research postgraduate student ambassadors to deliver talks at research conferences and other events, presenting HKUST’s research excellence and study opportunities to hundreds of prospective students in 16 cities. Embracing Global Horizons for All-Round Vision Along with a multicultural campus, the University strives to provide students with direct overseas living experience. Over 2023-24, we assisted 1,100 undergraduates to undertake outbound exchanges through the University’s extensive Mainland and overseas partner network while around 730 inbound students experienced campus life studying at HKUST. Continuously seeking to widen our network, we signed new university-wide exchange agreements with Linnaeus University (Sweden), University of Groningen and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (both the Netherlands), and Vilnius University (Lithuania). Our Mainland exchange partnerships also broadened to include Tongji University, South China University of Technology, Sun Yat-sen University, Xiamen University, and China Foreign Affairs University. Creating a Supportive and Healthy Campus In further whole-person development, over 600 HKUST student athletes participated in 57 sports teams involving 34 sports over the year, building team spirit, resilience, and goal-setting. The University’s athletes represented Hong Kong and HKUST in local and international inter- varsity competitions, winning a bronze medal in the women’s table tennis team event at the Chengdu FISU World University Games in July 2023 and a bronze medal in the triathlon mixed relay at the 19th Hangzhou Asian Games in September 2023. Meanwhile, the launch of the Sports Leader Incubation Program enabled over 90 sports leaders and athletes to qualify as sports tutors or sports event facilitators to provide tutorial sessions and event management services for fellow students and education partners. Regarding wellness and mental health, our Peer Companion Training Program and SENtastic Leader Program trained and provided service opportunities to over 220 HKUST undergraduate and postgraduate student volunteers to deepen the University’s caring and 1,100 Outbound Students 730 Inbound Students
