44 HKUST ANNUAL REPORT 2024-25 For other donor recognition activities, a ceremony honored the GS Charity Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Glorious Sun Group, for its generous support of HKUST and three other leading universities in advancing pure mathematics research and talent development over the next five years. We also extend gratitude to the Sinovac Foundation for launching the Sinovac Fellowship Program. With a US$1.5 million donation, the program will support early-career faculty and nurture emerging talent in life sciences. Furthermore, following a generous donation from the Ho Iu Kwong Charity Foundation to enhance student life, HKUST has renamed Undergraduate Student Hall III in honor of Mr. HO Iu Kwong and his wife Ms. KWOK Pui Chun. HK$ 35M Raised at HKUST Foundation Inaugural Gala Dinner DEEPENING ALUMNI CONNECTIONS In line with our Strategic Plan 2031, we are committed to strengthening the mutually beneficial relationship between the University and its alumni. Throughout 2024-25, HKUST and alumni groups organized over 180 events in Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland, and overseas. These engagements were often aligned with senior leadership visits, facilitating meaningful dialogue between management and alumni communities worldwide. During the President’s international travels, additional alumni gatherings took place in key global cities such as Beijing and London, further reinforcing these important connections. At the cornerstone HKUST Alumni Reunion on campus in January 2025, the University celebrated the milestone of surpassing 100,000 alumni since the University’s establishment in 1991. An Appreciation Gathering the same day brought together 100 alumni leaders and donors to recognize their stalwart support for the University. Alumni also gave back directly to current students through 10 alumni-led career development programs and 240 one-on-one advising sessions during the Career Mosaic job fairs. Forty alumni from different generations and industries conducted the sessions, providing current students with valuable mentorship, real-world insights, and professional connections.
