53 Ranked #1 in Hong Kong and Chinese Mainland in THE Impact Rankings STEPPING UP GLOBALLY TO DRIVE FUTURE LIVABILITY HKUST maintained its global position at No. 19 in the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings, reaffirming its status as the top-ranked institution from Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland for the second consecutive year. The rankings evaluated 2,500 universities worldwide on their advancement of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). HKUST earned particularly high scores for its contributions to SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 15 (Life on Land). In June 2025, HKUST sustainability experts and senior management contributed to the global dialogue at the Global Sustainable Development Congress convened by THE and attended by approximately 5,000 thought leaders and policymakers in Turkey. As the official Track Partner for “Cities and Communities”, the University led discussions on solutions to climate change.
