(in alphabetical order of surnames) Faculty Students and Researchers Prof. Alex HE Jingwei , Division of Public Policy, was recognized with the Transition and Developing Economies Award 2025 by the International Public Policy Association. Prof. Kei May LAU , Division of Emerging Interdisciplinary Areas, was honored with Women in Photonics Excellence Award 2024 by IEEE Photonics Society. Prof. Adrian PO Hoi-Chun , Hari Harilela Assistant Professor of Physics, was awarded the 2024 Asian Young Scientist Fellowship. Prof. RAO Anyi , Division of Arts and Machine Creativity, was named to 2025 Forbes 30 under 30 Asia list. Prof. SONG Xueyang , Department of Physics, was awarded the Croucher Tak Wah Mak Innovation Award 2025. Prof. Fugee TSUNG , Chair Professor, Department of Industrial Engineering and Decision Analytics, was honored with the 2025 Shewhart Medal by the American Society for Quality. Prof. YAN Lianke , IAS Sin Wai Kin Professor of Chinese Culture and Chair Professor, Division of Humanities, was awarded the 2024 Hsing Yun Global Chinese Literary Prize (Contribution Award). Dr. Fons DEWULF , Division of Humanities, received the Ernest Nagel Early-Career Scholar Essay Award 2024 by the Philosophy of Science Association. Integrative Systems and Design undergraduates FAN Tsz-Ho , WAN Yan-Ki , WONG Lai-Yin , WONG Pak-Long , and WU Chun-Ming won the Gold Award in the ASMPT Technology Award 2025. Computer Engineering undergraduates HUANG Haolun , JIANG Yicheng , and Jason LAM Ka-Ming won the Gold Award in the ASMPT Technology Award 2024 contest. HKUST Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) Team was champion in the Explorer Class of the Hong Kong Regional Contest of the MATE International ROV Competition 2025. HKUST team won a gold medal in the 2024 Grand Jamboree, the World Expo of Synthetic Biology that organized by the iGEM (International Genetically Engineered Machine). Prof. CHEN Fei , Associate Head of Division of Environment and Sustainability, received the 2025 Luke Howard Award from the International Association for Urban Climate. Vice-President for Research and Development Prof. Tim CHENG Kwang-Ting was honored with a CCF Overseas Outstanding Contribution Award 2024 by China Computer Federation (CCF). Prof. Carsten CHONG , Department of Information Systems, Business Statistics and Operations Management, was awarded the Early Career Award 2024/2025 by the Research Grants Council. Prof. FAN Zhiyong , Chair Professor, Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering and Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, was honored with a Frontier Materials Scientist Award at International Conference on Frontier Materials 2025. Provost Prof. GUO Yike has been named “Leader of the Year 2024” in the Education/Professional/Technology and Innovation category from Sing Tao News Corporation. MBA students Dara BONOMI , Emma CAI , Raghav CHOPRA , and Marouane ZIANI won the Roland Berger-IESE International MBA Case Competition 2025 in Spain. Undergraduate Business students Ian CHANG , Adrian LAU , Natalie LEUNG , and James ZHU were crowned championship of the RSM STAR Case Competition 2025 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Electronic and Computer Engineering PhD student CHEN Fuzhan received the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society Pre-doctoral Achievement Award. Master of Public Policy students CHEN Shumin , LI Haixin , and LI Yueqing won Project Competition by the Hong Kong Occupational Safety and Health Council and represented Hong Kong at OSAKA EXPO 2025.
